AC-DC Auxiliary Power Supplies
Auxiliary power supplies are an integral part of systems used in applications such as home appliances, servers and datacenters, and consumer and industrial products. They provide the main or standby supply in order to keep critical systems functioning. Infineon’s wide portfolio of robust and efficient products empower you to design and build an auxiliary power supply to meet your requirements.
Benefits
- High efficiency
- Wide range of output power
- Low component count
- Supports wide input voltage
- Supports flyback & buck topologies
- Fixed frequency switching operation
- Quasi-resonant switching operation
Why auxiliary power supply is important
Many appliances and equipment require the availability of an auxiliary SMPS power source that works separately from the main power supply to support, for instance, standby operation. Power ratings can vary from a few to a few tens of watts for these auxiliary supplies, which can be either isolated or non-isolated. To ensure good performance, engineers must choose a power topology, including flyback or quasi-resonant, that best meets the efficiency, size, safety, and cost requirements.
